THICKSKIN THEATRE
ROSIE KAY DANCE COMPANY
'ROMEO & JULIET'
"A special mention has to go to Ayesha Fazal, who plays the gutsy Rosa. She is truly captivating as she mocks and goads the C’s, oozing confidence and elegance as she travels across the stage. Her moments in the spotlight are all too fleeting, but the passion and pride she has for her role shine throughout her performance."
Birmingham What's On, Ellie Hutchings
The street party – Kay’s take on the Capulets’ Ball – is a blast, with the effervescent Ayesha Fazal a highlight.

'PETRICHOR'
THICKSKIN THEATRE
"A CAPTIVATING PIECE OF ESCAPISM"
A YOUNGER THEATRE
In September 2020 amidst the global pandemic I was lucky enough to be part of a project with ThickSkin Theatre. A fantastic creative team took on multiple roles in order for this project to take place. This was the first experience for me working in 360 VR and the first time the team have produced this kind of experience. The duet was a journey of a friendship dropped into the world of repetitiveness and routine of work, sleep, eat. Through this theatre piece the characters take risks in order to break free some of which result in control and manipulation of ourselves but some risks are worth taking for those moments of joy and human connection.
PETRICHOR toured nationally and allowed people to immerse themselves into this new way of viewing theatre. It had a fantastic reaction by the press and the schools and communities who purchased a full resource pack thoroughly enjoyed the performance and the backstage documentary.
Since the production has toured PETRICHOR has been nominated for an Offie award for the best sound design and also the idea production award.

2018. Alongside 29 other women I felt strong and resillient. Our hands connected thorughout and our careful precise footsteps were two incredible dynamics that carried out through this powerful site specific performance. Rosemary Lee had a clear idea and concept that ls us to the most insightful discussions and explorations, we were women of various ages, knowledge and nationalities. This piece was performed as part of the GROUNDWORK Festival on Par Beach in Cornwall, we performed in daytime and sunset which was such an incredible contrast.
Oh beautiful women, how you inspire
To mark such territory in the calmest manner,
Our feet sign and our breath heard,
Hands pressed tight and my eyes alert
Hours had passed and we were washing away
Leaving our trail that we retrace another day
The sand in our boots glistened like the sea,
One more day on the beach? Oh did we plea.
